Probably you have heard about ADHD! Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a mental health disorder that causes a series of symptoms both in children and adults. These symptoms can mainly include:

  • problems with concentrating
  • forgetfulness
  • hyperactivity
  • not finishing tasks

These symptoms through the life of an ADHD person can show up in different levels. In the USA nearly 11% of children have this disorder which is a 50% diagnosis of children’s mental problems.

Better to act on it more efficiently. While not every person with ADHD takes the same treatment approaches, these treatments can vary between children and adults.

Taking drugs

Drugs have two main categories Stimulant and non-Stimulants. Stimulants are the most popular drugs for this disorder. Drugs prescribed because they can fix the probable worst neurological problem in communicating between our neurons. Our neuron cells are the fibers that transmit the data in our brain by releasing some chemical hormones called dopamine and norepinephrine. Stimulants increase the amounts of these hormones in the brain of an ADHD so that they can have more focus and concentration on which they’re decided as important.

These drugs included Amphetamines like drugs and drugs like Atomoxetin and Bupropion.

Although these drugs are the quick fix, they can harm our body by presenting some side effects.

Diet and Supplements

Studies suggest diet changes for fixing the issue. For instance, Magnesium as a supplement is another supplement that can help in stress reduction and proper functionality in human Brain cells. A 2014 Study (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25181335) suggests that taking Omega-3 Supplements can modestly improve symptoms in children with ADHD. But, newer researches have shown that diet changes may not improve ADHD symptoms. Natural herbs like ginkgo and ginseng also have proven to act modestly on relieving the symptoms.

Studies suggest that forgoing food coloring and preservatives may help manage some symptoms.

Novel treatments for ADHD

Try EEG biofeedback

A Neurotherapy that measures brain waves by Electroencephalographic activity. Like playing a video game, the subject is giving a task to concentrate on such as “keep the plane flying”. The plane will start to dive if the person distracts. These games can teach the child new focusing techniques to find and correct their symptoms.

Consider a taichi or yoga class

Studies have shown that people exercising these movements can relieve the symptoms of their disorder more efficiently. Body movements can pick on Mind-body relationship and relax the autonomous system of our body. Most of the symptoms of an ADHD person are due to activation of the sympathetic nervous system and thereby acting more aggressively.

Some of those studies suggest participating in these classes at least twice a week for a child.
